The James Marshall Foundation

The James Marshall Foundation

The James Marshall Foundation help young people who need support for education and career development opportunities by awarding grants. They help young people under 25 years old.

In 1722 a local land owner, James Marshall, left a remarkable gift in his Will. He created a charity that would support young people, living in the Parishes of Wheathampstead and Harpenden to obtain employment.

They have now extended their catchment area to include:

  • Kimpton
  • Redbourn
  • Flamstead
  • Markyate

The journey through school, further education and starting work is exciting but can be expensive. JMF use income generated from assets owned by the Foundation to provide funding for educational needs, to help build confidence, character and self-esteem along with career development opportunities. This enables them to offer help with grants related to:

  • Equipment and travel for work/apprenticeships
  • Further education courses
  • Apprenticeships/College/University costs
  • Extra-Curricular activities: sport, music, creative arts
  • Scouts/Guides and DofE
  • Laptops and printers
  • Residential school trips
  • School uniform

Please visit their website for more information and  to access the grant application page.
