We offer all pupils the opportunity to participate in school dinners, and offer a cafeteria-style service through Herts Catering Ltd (HCL) who are the County providers of school meals.  

Universal Free School Meals:

Free school meals are offered for ALL children in Reception Class and Years 1 and 2. Every eligible child can take advantage of having a delicious school meal every day completely free of charge – saving over £400 per year per child!

Pupils are offered a choice of meat or fish, a vegetarian option, a jacket potato or a cold sandwich lunch option to choose from daily. On Wednesdays, the children have a lovely roast dinner and on Fridays the popular choice is pizza. The menus rotate every three weeks. 

Parents are provided with a new menu at the beginning of each term.  If parents prefer, they can provide their children with a packed lunch.

Daily price from April 2026 : £3.55 FOR KS2 CHILDREN

All pupils (from Reception onwards)

Your child could get a free school meal if you receive any of the following:

• Income Support
• Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
• The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
• Child Tax Credit (as long as you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and you don't get more than £16,190 a year)
• Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
• Universal Credit
